February 7th is “Send a Card to a Friend Day” and what better item to include but an individualized story written just for them!
Sending mail might be a lost art, but I can honestly say there is something so special about receiving a handwritten letter or note. I love looking back on cards and letters written in the past. Seeing loved one’s written words in their own penmanship is like hearing their spoken words in their voice.
So what do you need to get started? Begin by making a list of friends you’d like to reach out to. Gather their addresses ahead of time so when your cards are ready all you need to do is address them and bring them to the past office to mail. You can use any pretty note cards you have on hand, make your own, or even go to the stationary section of your favorite store to choose just the right card for each friend. But if that seems overwhelming, don’t worry, because I am sharing 5 story ideas you can send to your friends that will make any card you send more special than any Hallmark.
Here are your 5 Story Ideas:
Write about a special memory that you both shared. Remember to be descriptive and specific and share why it was special to you.
Look for an inspirational quote that reminds you of them or something they are going through and then expand on it sharing how you see it relating,
Share a lesson you learned from them. Write about the lesson and then how it has helped you in your life.
Share a recipe you think they’ll like. Adulting can be hard. Sharing a favorite recipe you tried and liked and any special stories behind it is thoughtful. Hey if it’s a favorite treat, and travels well, why not make a batch to send along with your card?
Finally, just tell them how much you appreciate them. Write about what you love most about your friend. What are you favorite characteristics and why do they mean so much?
I’d love to hear which you chose and how it goes!
